1.2 How is transport/freight worked out?
Transport & freight costs vary from product to product as transport is largely determined by the weight of the product. The weights of each product is different so rather than giving you a complicated spreadsheet to analyze the Green Gopher website can calculate the freight cost automatically based on the product(s) you choose.
So for the best shopping experience you can get a quote in advance by adding products to your shopping cart on the website. You do not have to proceed through the check out process to find out your freight.
1.3 How do I find out transport/freight costs for my order?
1. Ensure you are logged into the Green Gopher website in the correct region and suburb you wish to get a quote for.
2. Go to the product page and add the product(s) you are interested to the shopping cart.
3. Click on the ‘Print or Email Quote’ button.
4. A popup box will appear which will give you the option to either print the quote now or simply enter your email address in the box and your quote will be sent to your entered email address.

2.8 How to calculate the Amount/Volume of products needed?
Select the shape of the area you want to cover, your garden may be a combination of several shapes. Remember: Area X Depth = Volume of Product Needed.
Calculate the area you need to cover:
Measure the length by the width in metres = Square Metres (m2)
The volume you need is square metres (m2) x depth = Cubic Metres (m3)
Example
Your garden is 10 metres in length by a width of 2 metres. i.e. 10m x 2m = 20 m2.
20 m2 x a recommended depth of 60mm (0.06m) = 1.2 m3
Measure the Radius ( ½ of the distance of the diameter) in metres x Radius in metres x 3.14 = Square Metres
The volume you need is Square Metres x Depth = Cubic Metres
Example
Your garden is 2 metres in Radius, and times the Radius again, then times 3.14. i.e. 2m x 2m x 3.14= 12.56 m2.
12.56 m2 x a recommended depth of 60mm (0.06m) = 0.7536 m3
Measure the Length by the Width in metres x 0.5 = Square Metres
The volume you need is Square Metres x Depth = Cubic Metres
Example
Your garden is 2 metres in length, 1.5 metres in width, then times 0.5. i.e. 2m x 1.5m x 0.5 = 1.5 m2.
1.5 m2 x a recommended depth of 60mm (0.06m) = 0.09 m3
Select a suitable laying depth:
Recommended Depth of Materials
- Topsoil or Lawn Mix in lawns = up to 100mm
- Compost/Mulches = 40-50mm
- Bark = 80-100mm
- Pebbles/Stones = 60mm (depending on pebble size)
- White chip = 60mm
- Crushed Shell = 60mm
Example
I have an area of approx 80sqm - can you tell me please how much mulch I would need to order?
The laying depth for Mulches is about 40-50mm. The depth of 0.05m times 80m2 is 4m3. So you will need 4m3 of the product you want to use.
You can order small carry bags (measured in L) or bulk bag (measured m3) or bulk (measured m3) products on our website. If you click on the ‘?’ icon next to the bag product of your choice, it will give you the number of bag required for that product.
